Dr. Frank Marinkovich

There is no greater joy than to be used in your particular calling whether that is in the practice of medicine or the mentoring of students. Rita and I have the privilege of doing both, and that together! As an M.D. and a soon to be A.R.N.P., we recently took a trip to Kisumu, Kenya. There we participated in a medical clinic with Philip Chec, M.D. Dr. Chec is a Kenyan physician who owns and operates the Florence Nightingale Hospital. He is also an elder at Christ Church of Kisumu.

Along with a small team of health care professionals, Rita and I saw nearly 1800 patients over a two day period! It was an amazing time as we treated the very poor and those who had no access to healthcare. It was good to work as a team, especially knowing that the process would continue after we left.

Over the coarse of the year we have been involved at S.P.U., working with students interested in becoming physicians and nurses. It is a joy to teach them and to demonstrate the craft of the profession. In March 2007, we be leading a team to Kenya consisting of two medical doctors, a nurse, and four students. We will be holding free medical clinics, working in the baby rescue mission, and starting a program of community health that we received from World Relief. There is plenty to do!
